Bp Avast was installed on a server 2003 with sql server 2008 R2, the installation went smoothly, I can access the management console to remotely install the antivirus client stations, however to install the clients appear in the list (network) as disconnected . Since the server is just like the rest green status appears as if you were offline.
I’ve been checking DNS, DHCP, services, firewall, network connections it’s all turned on and no errors in Event viewer windows
Does anyone have an idea what can I do?

I’m also having the same issue. I’ve installed the BP Control Panel on Windows Server 2003, I see all of the clients in the network list, but all clients are showing disconnected. I was able to install BP to a client running XP Pro via the install url, but event that client is showing disconnected.
I tried stopping and starting the service, but that didn’t work. Does anyone have any suggestions on getting client machines to connect with the console?
1, at console, “ADMIN > Computer login audit trail” shows what computers tried to connect to the sbc server
2, at client, there is AvastNet.log which logs the connection attempts from client to the sbc server
these two “logs” could say more details
What is the version of your SBC server? and the avast! client(s)?
How desperate trying, since the information obtained was not paying off, uninstalled Avast BP and removed the SQL database and reinstalled Avast BP, customers reappeared.
I’ve abandoned all efforts to get BP functioning as expected. I’ve lost too many hours on this software package. I’ve been using Avast Pro at my organization for 3 years, but I think I’m going with Vipre Enterprise for my managed AV solution.
I see that you haven’t the last version of BP console, have you tryed to install the SP1??
SBC Console 1.0.888.19 has some improvement and in my network all is run ok
I too suffer from this disease … BUT, it only started happening after I created a group besides the 2 default groups (default & unmanaged)
After restarting the Avast Console service the clients start poppinng in again.
I created one group called Kermit which contains our SBS, on which the SBC is installed also.
The server itself appears always online (==localhost)
The clients in the default group dissappear once every 2 days or so …
I hav the latest official versions of SBC and BPP clients.
I also have the same problem, I using avast BPP installed on XP SP3
avast! AC: 1.0.888.19
Mirror info, Program ver.: 6.0.1253
Client Ver: 6.0.1253
service in client running and no problem, check on computer audit trial no found any error.
restart client service is not solve the problem, but after restart the PC was appear with green.
I do restart the administration console is also not solve the problem. Once i found error on the computer audit trial with status “Server Error” and I restart it again then the problem solve for about 3 hours then one by one the client look disconnected from administration console.
I have 12 server always up, but on the administration console look disconnected icon.
Are you sure that you have no other security program installed on server or client?
It’s so strange… it seem a comunication problem between client and server. Maybe a firewall that block some port or avast netservice on server/client stops.
It’s possible?
