Hello.
When I started using avast, i can’t install or uninstall any other programs on my computer. When i try to install a new program, the computer tells me there’s another program that’s installing on my computer, even if i didn’t run any other program. I don’t know what to do. Please help me to solve that problem. Thank you!
Are you sure no programs in the background are updating? Such as Windows Update? Does the issue occur WITHOUT Avast installed?
I don’t think it’s related to Avast but by removing it via a clean install you’ll get rid of Avast and then try. If it doesn’t work then it’s not Avast.
If it does work (installing programs) reinstall Avast.
- Download Avastclear, Rejzors uninstall tool and the appropriate Avast program edition

Avastclear : http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avastclear.exe
Rejzors Uninstall tool: http://rejzor.wordpress.com/avast-cleanup-tool/
- Uninstall Avast by control panel [If you don’t have Avast in control Panel go to #4]
- Uninstall in safe mode using Avastclear.
- Run Rejzors Uninstall Utility in Normal Mode (removes traces avastclear doesn’t) - reboot.
- Install the version you downloaded.
- Reboot.
You can insert license file during install or after reboot. (If using paid version)

Along with Alikhan’s suggestions, can you give us some information on your system? What Windows version (XP, Win7, 8, etc.) and what version of Avast are you trying to install? Also, if the uninstall and re-install does not fix the issue, you can check for a corrupted MSI installer service (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971187).
Let us know how you get along.
