Occasionally, I’m receiving the OE login screen when starting OE from dial up. Normally, the process of Avast and then OE start up together properly is okay but sometimes I get this OE screen with the username set up for Avast and a password field. Note, I also have SpamPal in this chain as Avast->SpamPal->OE so my username in OE is setup myname#pop3.myip.com@localhost. Avast uses the # symbol while SpamPal uses the @ symbol. This works fine nearly all the time but I do get this one problem sometimes. Since Avast uses port 110 I have SpamPal and OE set up on port 1110.
Sounds a lot like my problem ! See “Outlook Express misbehaving”.
You’re right it is exactly the same problem. Well not exactly but within the same family. I’ll check the log file next time that happens.
