Internet Explorer 8 and MS Outlook Not Working after latest Avast Update

I’m using these versions (updated on 30 Nov 09):

  • Program: 4.8.1368
  • Vps: 091201-0

After the updates,
(1) My MS Outlook 07 cannot run. The Avast communicating with MS Outlook icon remains on my tray until the error message pops up.
(2) Internet Explorer 8 slowed to a crawl (loading this forum page took 10mins). I’ve to disable Avast totally to run Internet Explorer and after disabling, loading only took a few secs…

I’ve tried a few times and have verified that the only way to run my MS Outlook and Internet Explorer is to disable Avast.
What did the latest updates do to my PC?

I’m using Vista Ultimate, and I don’t understand how that topic is similar. Can you enlighten me? And it happened only yesterday immediately after I updated Avast. ???

Anyway, I just completed a system restore and disable Avast program updates. Everything is fine, will update the program when a solution is available…
