Internet Explorer crashes

I just installed ver 4 and really like it, but there’s a major problem I’m having. Whenever I launch IE 6.0 a window pops up saying that IE needs to close down. It also gives me the option to send a report to Microsoft. I stopped the script monitor part of Avast and now IE works fine. Just pausing it doesn’t solve the problem. I’ve even reinstalled Avast with only Explorer and Systray running in the task list to avoid conflicts with other programs. The only way I’m able to even be on this forum is because I had to unistall Avast. I’m using Win98 ver 4.10.1998 with 369 M of RAM.

Please help.

Do you have any other AV currently on your system besides Avast?

Douglas

I did have PC-cillin, but I uninstalled it prior to installing Avast.

do you ahve all of the updates to IE?

Guys, thanks for the help. I updated my IE, repaired IE, ran a system check with Norton Utilities, and disk doctored all my HDs. Avast script monitor worked just fine after reinstalling it. However, my original problem was somewhat a moot point, because I plan on using the free home version, which doesn’t allow script monitoring anyways.

Hi

I strongly recommend you to upgrade to Windows 2000/XP.
Support for older windows versions will end 2006 from Microsoft anyway. Windows 98 crashes all the time, doesn’t matter if you install an antivirus or any other program. It just suxx
