The past few months, when I open IE it automatically opens with an avast! sandbox window surrounding it. This sandbox is preventing IE from working at all; the program just crashes without loading anything. I can’t even open the settings from the IE window; I have to go to Internet Options in the control panel. This is surprising to me, because I didn’t know the free version of avast came with a sandbox feature. This doesn’t happen when I use Firefox or Chrome. I looked at other threads, and when I make a shortcut on the desktop, there is an orange lock on IE, as other forum posters have mentioned. Right clicking on the IE icon does not give me the option to not open sandboxed.
I’m using the free version of avast! 8.01489 on a Windows 7 system. As far as I know, Internet Explorer is up to date. It crashes before I can check what version it use through help/about, but avast’s program updated claims it’s version 10.0.9200.16660.
