Hi, Please see this and give me the solution. This is stored as event id 1014, regarding dns. When i get this, i opened the error log and found that is related to the avast. Is there a bug ? What is the solution. When i was browsing windows, suddenly i lost internet light, when dsl line stays.Would experts throw light on this and also give solution… This is a recurring one
Hi, Why no reply so far for my query?
I also feel that when computer starts, some avast start services gives this kind of dns error, resulting in internet loss and it is restored after getting another external ip , by the router.
I do not mind , avast starting behaviour and other services when the computer starts, (as avast has self defence defaultly enabled),, as i love avast protection, but give a fix for this kind of dns error and internet getting red light , inspite of dsl light staying, and once this error occurs, dsl goes out , and getting reconnected after a few minutes. Even in eventid.net, i come across this kind of 1014 id error.
Would the moderator or staff look in to this ? If already a fix is there let me have the link to it.
I certainly haven’t come across this before, nor can I recall having seen it before in the forums. I guess the same is true for other regular helpers.
Here it is again. Please see the enclosure
check the DNS server(s) configured for that system, seems that the DNS server(s) that your PC is using are either overloaded or designed to drop/intercept requests.
try using Google’s public DNS service:
https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using
IPv4 DNS:
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
IPv6 DNS:
2001:4860:4860::8888
2001:4860:4860::8844
scratch that… “Internet light goes red”? i see you are on a DSL line.
that error message is not a CAUSE but a RESULT of “Internet light goes red” - your connection to the internet is dropped by the DSL modem and, as a result, internet name resolution will fail. Using Google DNS will not help in this case.
check your phone line, make sure the DSL modem is properly connected WITHOUT a filter and that ALL other (non-data) phone devices on the same line have proper DSL noise filters installed on the line.
your DSL modem is dropping the connection - propably when someone else is using the phone connected on the same line but that phone is without DSL noise filters. The phone will generate line noise when in use and that is why phones need line filters.
Hi, Aditza,
Today morning also i had the same problem. The internet light goes out.
scenario. I am using smartphones thro wifi modem signal. Phones are using wifi .
When i switch on the UPS power, (with pc off stage), the dsl went out and obtained the access after a few minutes.
When i switch on, again the same behaviour.
My connection is BSNL wire >rosette box
One side of the Rosette box Rj11adoper >Filter>Telephone
On the other Rj11 adaopter >Nofilter>modem>pc
Is there anything wrong connections?
Why this 1014 error reporting and the cause is shown as ping avast com, so the query
can i expect a solution and reply from you.
I thought of google Dns. But , when i check with router check, it shows the actual dns details of some unknown servers in malaysia at times
Thought it would be better in my ISP settings.
Hi, Aditz, Expecting replies from you and experts.
Moreover, is the splitters given by the wifi modem manufacturer is not noise filters? Are those different? I do not find.
Ofcourse, i tried the phone without the filters and it is broadcasting itself and the sound if you just take out the receiver from the cradle, it is sea sound whoosh…
I just connected the modem straight to the rosette box rj11 adapter without any splitters in the middle.
Why this error is repeating at every log on with avast com ping or other avast websites services?
Hi, I also tried plugging out, ether net connection from modem, and the dsl light does not blink, when it is reconnected. So, it is only when i log in to the computer, that i get all kind of errors.
Is there a bug in the latest avast?
No support ticket available for sending detailed log. But, i do not think, that this kind of log will be created in avast .
can you please check your splitter?
not all phone line splitters have DSL filter function too… some are just simple splitters
for example this is just a simple splitter: (can have other shapes, note that the ports are NOT marked)

this is a splitter with DSL filter function: (notice that the ports are marked for their function, DSL side is not filtered, phone side is filtered)

and this is a stand-alone filter:

my guess is that the line quality and internet connection is teetering just on the edge of instability and when data is being transmitted then the connection fails.
if the splitters and/or filters are correctly connected then it means that the quality of your DSL line signal is too low - the line is probably too noisy or the wires are in poor condition. Call the ISP and ask them to run a DSL line noise and quality test and come fix them if the line is too noisy.
Depending on the DSL modem model they can do this line noise check either directly from their office or (very rare these days) have someone come to your house/office and test the wires. Usually their service people can check the line quality directly from their offices if the equipment is recent enough.
