October 27, 2009 08:36 PM ETIDG News Service - Cybercriminals have found a new launching pad for their scams: the phone systems of small and medium-sized businesses across the U.S.
In recent weeks, they have hacked into dozens of telephone systems across the country, using them as a way to contact unsuspecting bank customers and trick them into divulging their bank account numbers and passwords.
This is very terrible incident that I’ve heard. The telecommunication company should make a solution to prevent scam. I think many people disappointed about this issue and it is urgently be resolve.
This is also old going back to Oct of last year.
I agree with you that small business phone system have strong vulnerabilities to hacking. Security is pretty weak especially for virtual PBX phone systems, hosted PBX phone systems, Centrex and other internet-based systems.
I know it is an old thread but I just want to add that internet-based phone system will be the new avenue for hackers and viruses.
