My Avast Pro was nearing expiration so I decided to switch to AIS for a better protection.
Said and done, went to Avast website, downloaded Internet Security…but now I find that I have to wait sometimes a whole minute for a page to load! Same page that before loaded instantly with PRO version…even to load a simple CAPTCHA it would wait over 30 seconds. Also slowed my boot time down a bit, not disturbingly much though so I can live with that.
I run Win 7 64bit and have been using Avast for the past 3 years, nothing like this ever happened before.
I tried disabling shields to see which could be the cause and noticed that when disabling the Network Shield things improved by about 50% in matters of speed. Any advice please?
I ran a reboot, same issue. How do I run a repair please, the product (avast) is electronic, got it off Avast site. It doesn’t have a CD
Also in addition to the above said: it varies, sometimes it takes A LOT to load other times about 50% slower only than usual time. For example on this site it would load in 3-4 secs or in 20 secs after multiple tries. Refreshing the CAPTCHA code took about 20 secs and 3 tries haha
It gets stuck on Waiting for… site name here or on Sending request to…site name here
Repairing avast is done by clicking avast as to uninstall then when you recieve the popup screen scroll to repair and reboot, if all esle fails i’d suggest a clean re-install then add your license file sent to you via email.

Additional info: when resetting my modem it seems to go totally normal for a few minutes, then starts slowing down again
Ok so the issue seems to have been some unidentified conflict between my computer and Avast Internet Security.
After trying to disable EVERYTHING in avast, all shields and firewall I simply uninstalled it and ta-daa, slow internet issue vanished.
Now I just installed the PRO version and so far so good: works perfectly.
