invalid context during scan issue

I restored ams from previous backup using go backup.
the restored ams will report “invalid context during scan” every time I install a new app.
what does this mean exactly?

I can also see the firewall of the restored ams didn’t work as it didn’t get the root permit.
I need to manually disable/enable firewall to let ams ask for the root permit.

wondering whether there are other issue when ams is installed in such way.

Thanks.

Hi,

there might be such issues, yes. To “fix” the invalid context in such case, you need to delete AMS data via your device Settings. Should be fine after that.

The reason I restored app is I don’t want to to through all the setup again especially for the firewall.
any workaround?

Well… If you have a rooted device, you can try going to /data/data/com.avast.android.mobilesecurity and delete app_dex directory (AMS must be shut down first). If that doesn’t work, you are out of luck.

thanks. this helps. Hopefully sometime later there is no need for such work around .

We’ll see, but I have a lot of work scheduled at the moment so I don’t have time to deal with this particular usecase :frowning:

it is totally fine with me. I am a very satisfied user of ams so …

I get this and I did not restore from backup.

Hi,

there are other non-standard things you can do with apps that might break the definitions. If it doesn’t fix itself after definitions update, deleting Mobile Security data always works.
