Is an IP address assigned to an individual computer? If I have two computers at the same location on a network will they each have a different IP address?
They aren’t at the same location as far as a network router would be concerned If you are talking about an internet IP address (not a local network IP) then if you only make one internet connection, broadband, that usually has an ISP dynamically assigned IP address.
Local network IP have this format 192.168.x.x, typically they would be or you assign them 192.168.0.1 (your main pc), 192.168.0.2 (second pc), 192.168.0.3 (3rd pc), etc. This however might be different for your LAN/Router if it sets the IP addresses.
The internal IP (local network or LAN IP) is different.
The external IP (Internet or WAN IP) will be the same if you share the connection.
