Iranian Users

Hi. I’m from Iran. I want to install Avast Free antivirus. I have a question: Avast and AVG products included the US embargoes?
Can we install and use this product without problem?
Thank you.

Sincerelly, who follow laws when those laws are illegal?
(sound not logic, but you understansd, when a law is in conflict with common sense)

Also, Avast site follow US embargo, then you should download Avast from other page or torrent. Yes, besides the illegal ways, there are also legal ways than circunvent US embargo.

Now at the other hand, I heard (no know what true in it) than your country block certain IPs making not possible to Avast to get updates

The simple answer is NO.

WHY?
Avast is not from USA, then it would be against all common sense

Avast is a Czech company whose HQ is in Prague, and is listed on the Prague and London stock exchanges.

The Czech Republic is a member of the European Union (EU) and the EU has imposed sanctions against Iran.

So the earlier reply by Bob is correct!

This is a dumb law.

I would encourage you to use Avast even if is under embargo. Why would a random citizen would be restricted to use a certain product because of any political issues of a country?

He’s restricted from downloading the product. Before giving advice, it’s always nice to know the facts.

Well yes, he can always use a VPN to download Avast I think but does that make is illegal for him?

You talk abotu facts?
you are an antivirus, then the logic say you are for everyone

That’s up to your government. Nothing that Avast can control.

Then it mean piracy is a valid way to bypass illegal laws

They aren’t illegal laws.
Companies who are bound by those laws/sanctions have to abide by them or suffer penalties themselves.

How people deal with that is their own decision. Such as find another antivirus that isn’t subject to sanctions.
