Hello, right now I have Avast free 5.1. I was looking at their site, and it only cost $29.99 for 1 year up to 3 PCs of avast internet security. Is it worth it? It has a firewall to replace the windows firewall, and a sandbox. I really love the free version, and have it on all my computers.
- Your sig says something else.
- It’s up to you to decide. This might help: http://www.avast.com/comparison-chart

@ the OP: as said you’re the one to tell if it’s worth. Best way is still to download the trial version and run it a few days.
Logos is right…!
I forgot to mention the trial version, sorry.

I think it is. I’ve been using the free for a while and am at the end of my 30 trial for the AIS and will be sending them my money in a day or so.
- I think it’s a very good product (though others may score slightly higher in some tests), and version 6 sounds very promising.
- I think it’s nice to support people who offer quality AV protection for free. I know it helps them by having that many users, but it’s still nice that their free version is not weak AV.
I use it and run an online scan from someone else every so often because none of them are perfect all the time. Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware free and run that as well. It should pick up things that could be missed by any AV.
Try it for 30 days and see for yourself. Good security at a good price and good forum support. What’s not to like?
The thing that swung it for me was the forthcoming version 6 of Avast! Internet Security which is to include the safe zone.
The Safe Zone is for things like on-line banking where you would be in effect working in an isolated desktop where you are immune to keyloggers - hence an added layer of security where it really matters.
I think you should buy AIS if you want to pay otherwise you can use combined software to achieve the same result. The only that you won’t get is technical Support.
But before you buy it, you should try it out and if you think it’s worth the money then buy it
Regards
… oh by the way I think the free version of 6 includes a sandbox facility, so that’s maybe a reason not to if you don’t need the safe mode, no doubt there will be more improvements to the paid version which I think is due out very soon - something to thing about!
Well, the auto-sandboxing feature in the free version is quite different to the sandbox in the paid versions.

I would get rid of Advanced System Care free as it is from IOBit.
Are you using Windows 7 32bit or 64bit ???
Sorry, I just got a different laptop. Here are the specs: OS / Browser: Windows XP Professional SP3 32bit / Google Chrome 9.0
Security: Avast free antivirus 5.1.899; Windows XP firewall.
I think I might stay with the free version for now…
Yes .I think it is worth it because I tried using different firewalls with Avast and most of the commercial firewalls are too intrusive and buggy and screw up your system slow it down and the longer you have them and keep trying they screw up your system more…I figured to combine a firewall with my Avast free and they all suck…and I tried ALL OF THEM…It is the best if you can get the Avast Firewall with Avast, and you will have no hassels…Good Luck
… thant’s nice to know cheers!
i wish i got internet security avast instead of pro internet security is good i know that bro
