Is it legal : Use of AVAST FREE on our computer repair business

Are we in any of our legal rights to give copy of free installer of avast, or install it on our own customers computers, these are clients who gets their computer operating system reformatted or upgraded. As part of our paid service we are installing their computers a free version of avast antivirus.

Does this violate any terms in the EULA or is it acceptable ?
Also does installing of avast free remotely ok ?

I think this is a grey area that’s technically permissible, but not advisable. Problem is if any of those customers is actually a business user and they use this Free version your shop installed, then it’s violation of terms. Not sure how anyone would enforce this or what would happen if business user that gets Free one installed gets in trouble with inspection if they get their systems inspected. I think avast!'s legal team will have to answer this.

Hello thank you for answering my question. Can we assume that it will be the fault of the customer to tell us the truth if his or her unit is for personal use only whenever he/she came to that violation of terms problem. I’m very anxious regarding laws that i have headache all day reading the EULA of avast. It says in section 2.1 that it could not be used for commercial purposes then let me ask this, If our service included a “FREE” installation of this free version of avast, is that a violation ?
Can you give me or anyone who reads this an example on what would happen if someone commits this kind of violation ?

Help me escalate this concern to the avast representatives? Thank you.

The last reply from Avast on this topic was that at the moment, it’s still legal.
That reply was posted some time ago so only Avast can tell you if anything has changed.
