Is it safe to delete 'ARCHIVED FILES' ??

Hi,
Having used Avast to scan my archived files, it states in the results that it was unable to scan due to ‘password protection’ or corrupt files, etc.

There is an option under the action button to delete these files;

Question - is it safe to do so and are the said files ever going to be needed or can they ever be accessed anyway?

Some guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Cheers, Johnboy

Depends on what files they are.

Hi Eddy,
The majority of files appear to be Spybot, when I used to utilise that programme

Spybot (as well as many other applictions like that) is encrypting some of the files. Nothing special or harmfull that Avast can’t scan them. Just leave the files where they are. Unless you have removed Spybot ofcourse. In that case you can simply remove the entire folder Spybot was in.

If they are indeed related to S&D then they are likely to be the back-ups to enable you to restore anything you removed in error.

If after a period of time there have been no harmful effects from these S&D fixes/deletions, then it should be fairly safe to delete them.

Click on the Recovery icon and you should see a list of the recovery archives, select the ones (by date) for deletion.

Thanks for your input Guys, it is appreciated.
Cheers for now.
