Is it safe to install Avast or not?

I’ve been reading about Avast’s update problems, etc., and would like to know if it’s wise to install it or not. Should I wait until Avast figures out what the problem is and fixes it? I just dumped Norton because of all the problems they’re having and the deafening silence from Symantec about the problems, and I come here to see the same sort of thing happening.

I’m sure there’s some robust corporate logic behind the silence in both cases, but how about some customer-based logic fotr a change… you know the type that doesn’t keep pushing the potential customer, like me, down the road to the next vendor.

Growing very weary of this garbage!

Safe now, and new update is up and glitch-free.

And don’t worry, it’s still a good product, you can rely on it, not garbage yet.

It is fixed. Mine just updated after a restart.

Try a quick manual update, GTX. (I myself am curious to see whether it takes. I’ve already gone trough several uninstalls/reinstalls, and if you haven’t, I’m curious to see the result. I hope you can just update all the same, and don’t have to uninstall, reinstall, etc. Good luck.)

An uninstall - reinstall would solve nothing as it was a server side glitch

Ha! Big words! (“Them’s fightin’ words.” ;D) But fair enough – nothing and no one’s perfect.

(As long as that’s not kept silent and hidden when it counts, we’re fine.)

It seems to have happened overnight as in the UK I was not affected… Didn’t even know there was a problem 'till I came here ;D

Hmm… You’ve got a point… About me having lost track of time and sleep… :o What time was it? … is it? :wink: (Seriously, was this under or over 24 hours? I think it was 30-36 hours ago the issue surfaced? 48? More? shrug)

Maybe that, too, is good point?.. :wink:
