Is it worthwhile to pre-scan .dbx files?

Let me explain. I’m looking for a temporary solution for scanning gmail until Avast 5 comes out. My thought is to manually scan the Outlook Express folder with ashquick before opening any mail. Would this offer any additional protection over Avast’s realtime scanner?

Thank you for your thoughts.

Hmmm… Gmail is scanned internally, if you do not want to use Stunnel and scan the emails, I won’t see that much protection on scanning the dbx files on demand. Maybe you can add dbx extension to the Standard Shield settings (scan files on open).

You will just risk erasing entire mail database…

Thank you, I will wait for Avast 5.
