Hmm, that’s really strange. Seems like somebody else is trying to log on as you. :-
I don’t know exactly what you mean by “a trace of the routing# shows Alwil Software” - the IP address shown seems to be some AOL proxy.
:-\ In my opinion, you should log onto avast!, if you can, and change it from there, just to be sure that no one knows your password. I update mine every two weeks on other sites. I don’t really know where to change mine on this one.
Another forum, I use to go exprience this type of problem. Every users recieved a email saying that someone tries to log in as them and the email gave them new passwords. However, I didn’t exprience this problem with avast! forum :-\
I believe the link is OK. I mean, I think (I’ve never forget the password, so I’ve never tried this feature) that when you enter wrong password and specify that you forgot it, an e-mail is sent to your address (set in your forum options) with a link to the (real) forum - when you click it, you will see the password (or will be able to set a new one, don’t know). So, I think the link is correct - real link to this forum.
So, unless the “attacker” is able to intercept your e-mail, he shouldn’t be able to get to the link and to the password.

I didn’t use the function to change my password nor did I select that I’ve forgotten my password
I’ve been signed on since early this AM and havent had to sign in or been requested to sign in when I open the link to
the forum. Since I’ve selected to sign in FOREVER, I really can’t remember the last time I’ve had to sign in.
Somebody was trying to log on under your name and used the password reminder. It might have been either mistake or naive ‘hack attempt’ - the reminder is always sent to the email address specified in the account, so there is no way how the password could be caught without also breaking in your email account…
Ah, my bad - chocholo is right, the image itself may provide unauthorized access to your account (through the link which contains the necessary code).
I’ve removed the link from the posts - and I suggest to change your password, Bob.
