Is there a new version of avast?

Hi,
I am new to this site. I have had avast for about 2 months now and it’s been working great…about every time I turn on my computer, a small blue box in the lower right opens up and states the virus database has been updated. That stopped on 11/24, and instead a green box pops up stating there is a new version of avast available and to click on the box to go to the site. I am hesitant to do this, have gone to the avast site on my own and it doesn’t seem there is a newer version. I have 4.8 1229 and the current database is listed as 081125-1…pls advise…thanks…taaffee

EDIT: This is really the PDA section of the forum. I’m assuming you just posted in the wring place, as you mentioned ‘computer’.
