This ads suddenly popping out in my computer today after I downloaded virus signature for avast free 4.8 whenever my computer is connected to the internet.

Pushing a little more firmly to get people to upgrade,
being as it is in the best interest of the users and the company as a whole.
Friend of mine got one a couple days ago on his pc.
He upgraded, no problems.
Yes it is a legit Update notification. avast 5.0 has been out now for about 5 months now and as 4.8 comes near renewal they want those that can to update to the avast 5.0 version (those with win2k, winXP, Vista and win7 OSes).
Support for 4.8 will only last until the end of this year, so it is advisable to update now if you can.
