It sure is not, pol…!
There’s no standalone download for the avast gadget…!!!

This gadget does work with Avast! but Im not sure how this person uploaded that gadget. Now I have two gdgets for Avast! and can’t tell which one was recently installed
If we doubt the originality of the gadget in question, this sure is no invite to go and install it.
Certainly if the gadget is not checked by Microsoft to be original,

I don’t think this is an avast official/legitimate download, but it is supposedly signed by avast software, so I don’t know what the live.com gallery make on what it posted.
Or more likely someone has extracted it out of their avast installation. Which seems a pointless exercise as it is included in the avast 6.0 installation and is worthless unless you have avast 6.0.
Dave, we’re talking about the gadget not WebRep.
But still, you’re right that this can never be official…!!

It could be simply that someone has taken the gadget out of the program files folder and uploaded it to the sidebar gallery.
It says it is signed by avast and matches the filesize for the sidebar gadget in program files.
That said, there is no need for a standalone gadget since it comes with avast and can only be used with avast…I don’t get what the point would be in downloading it otherwise…

yep that’s probably what happened; anyway that’s not legit and I reported it to MS. Not mentioning that it most likely can’t work with versions older than V6. Could even be malicious. After all I’ll try to download it and scan it. And no, I won’t install it ;D
md5 matches the one I have in Program Files…
I didn’t check that but okay
Someone just upload C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\aswSidebar.gadget . I don’t know the point of It. :-. This won’t work for people without avast! 6 so they should delete It.
