Hello my Canadian friend !

Yes this looks like a legitimate program.

Is this codec package any good ? I remember i once tried to install it but something went wrong(don’t remember what it was …) and i was unable to.

So now i use a combination of GOM Player + VLC without any extra codecs installed. I like these new players that have all those codecs already embedded into them. Pretty cool.

P.S: Sorry for the off-topic !

it will be fixed with next VPS update…

That was quick! Great and thanks!

Yes it’s pretty good although I am not fund of using those codec packages. Most of the time, all they give you is trouble. Tons of unnecessary things installed even though you may never ever use/need it. I like to install my codecs myself, but again with Vista that doesn’t work sometimes. For example, some DivX and even XviD codecs are well known to cause trouble in Vista (COM Surrogate errors, when thumbnail view is enabled inside your windows, and you try to open some folder containing video files). In this case, using Vista Codec Package resolved those problems although it’s not that easy job… need to clean all previously installed codecs and once you are 100% sure they are gone, install VistaCP.

Players with integrated codecs are nice indeed. Most of all I liked GOM Plaayer, but after I’ve noticed some slowdown in video playback (randomly), I uninstalled it. Since then, I use VideoLan (VLC) on all my machines (iMac included)… it simply plays everything I need. Of course on my Mac, I use QuickTime with Perian (The Swiss army knife for QuickTime) installed. Perian is a free, open source QuickTime component that adds native support for many popular video formats, so playing DivX and XviD files in QuickTime is nothing strange.

Cheers!

Vista Codec Package was crashing explorer when I try to open a video into JetAudio. Removing the codecs, JetAudio works perfectly and explorer did not crash.
Anyway, avast shouldn’t have detected is as infected ;D

Tech, Why aren't you using the built in codec in jetAudio?

Because of my stupidity… I have lots of players… decide to keep just one without extra codecs.
