is this freeware anti-virus really powered by Kaspersky?

Can anyone tell me whether AOL active virus shield is any good?

the link is below:

http://www.activevirusshield.com/antivirus/freeav/index.adp?

it says that it is powered by Kaspersky and that it can be downloaded free of charge.

It`s detection rate was the same kaspersky version 6:

Hi Omar,

Use your search button on this general forum, there was an extensive thread on this subject.

polonus

so it seems that this AOL version has some feature lacking from the real kaspersky?

I presume kaspersky uses heuristics? does this AOL version lack it?

i wonder who you send malware samples to?

As polonus said there is a thread in the forums that talks at length about this AV, so that would be the logical place for the questions, keeping everything together helps others.

Omar…heres the thread about the active virus shield davidr and polonus were talking about–i think its the right one-i hope

After all this time, does anybody know how to use it (if possible) as ONLY an on-demmand scanning, not resident?
