Is update happening?

I have just installed Avast Home on my computer (P4 1.5, 512 Ram, XP Pro, Broadband, Outlook, no other AV SW loaded).

When I open the Simple User Interface it says that the current version of the virus database is 0453-1, 31/12/04.

This does not change when I select “update virus database” and try to update.

Is this a problem?

When did you download the installation program file?

I would suggest that you try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, avast! Anti-Virus, Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this.
