my pc keeps crashing on me can anyone tell me why? im not really good in computers pls. help
Hi,
Please specify your system. What version of Windows, antivirus (avast! or another?). It will be hard to help you if we do not know any basic info about your system.
Also, when did the crashing start → after you changed a setting, installed a program, etc. This will help determine whether or not it is a software conflict or a hardware problem. Something good to know might be how old is your system and the specs regarding your system. If you do not know, but know the generic brand of your system (i.e. HP Pavilion 510c) it will also be helpeful.
Windows 98 and im using avast home and a2
im not really sure when it started and i didnt do anything with it and i have a really old pc its a Gateway 450 … i think
Are you getting any error messages?
Does it just shutdown or is it restarting?
Do you know how old this computer is?
Has the power supply ever been replaced?
There are quite a few things it could be but we need more information to be able to help.
the sreen turns blue and it says" An exception OE has occurred at 0028:C001539A in VxD— this was called from 0028:C14460FA in VxD — it may be possible to continue normally" and this pc is old like 6-7 yrs lod and the power supply is still the same
shiegy,
Is this happening at start-up or is it happening after the computer has been on for some amount of time?
after the computer has been on for some amount of time
But can’t you post a screenshot of the error?
Does the computer just freeze, it reboots automatically, or does it display an error message?
Tech,
Shiegy is getting this at a BSOD. So, he probably can not get a screenshot. I never did get an answer to if it was shutting down or restarting.
BSOD? what is that? and tech i duno how…
With Windows 98?
So, it will be an error message in the Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD).
As far I know, Windows 98 does not automatically restart after a BSOD…
oh ok , how do you fix that ?
Hi Shiegy :
This does not appear to be an Avast- related problem !?
Therefore, it would be best if you asked the Microsoft
Most Valuable Professional(s) on the forums at :
www.aumha.net for help .
oh ok spirit thanks
shiegy, are you running McAfee Clinic on your system?
Please take a look at the following:
