I’ve checked around and have gotten various opinions, so I thought I’d ask the experts. Do iWin games contain viruses or trojans? Are they safe to download? iWin Games’ website insists their games are virus free, but Avast and Returnil both mark them as trojans and viruses.
So, what’s the verdict? Thanks for your help. Peace.
Whenever P2P-ing is involved, the game can be safe, but the contents might be malcious. That depends from what dubious source you have downloaded it or who uploaded that “so many minutes free version”, stay away, stay clear and heed the warning here: http://hosts-file.net/?s=iwin.com
There are many secure sites for playing games without downloading them also, so that practice is far more secure…
Sorry, but I didn’t get any information (that I understood) at your link; thanks, though.
Regarding P2P, I downloaded directly from iWin’s site, iwin.com. I don’t use P2P, as I understand the term. So, I guess my question is, are games downloaded from iwin.com safe? Are the Avast warnings false positives, or truly viruses? Google searches reveal both positions, so I thought perhaps this forum could clarify. Thanks for the help.
The classification at that link is easy enough, if you look for it, they say:
EMD - sites engaged in malware distribution
This classification is assigned to website's engaged in the distribution of malware (e.g. adware, spyware, trojans and viruses etc).
Sites with this classification typically either contain files (e.g. cracks, keygens, adware, spyware, trojans, viruses et al) or lead to such via (for example) “fake scanners” or other social engineering and misleading tactics. This includes the activities of rogue Internet Service Providers (ISPs) that host other sites to which the EMD classification applies.
So depending who uploads what there, you could run certain risks downloading certain files there,
