Java How-to

I am completely confused by this Java thing, and wd appreciate some enlightenment and advice. You guys did a great job fixing my problem a few months ago, and a repeat wd be nice
Have Avast free, latest updates, running on Windows XP pro SP3. Ran a full scan yesterday (which I do each month…not on auto). Found four ‘JavaAgent’ threats shown as [expl] whatever that is. Have not found Java threats before…actually find very few badies ever.
On ‘Programs’ found and deleted only one ref to Java, an ‘update’. Then used ‘search’ and was overwhelmed :frowning: I gather Java invades everything.

  1. How bad are these invaders?
  2. The suggestion seems to be to REMOVE Java. How?..cannot find any button to do so. 3. What repercussions shd I expect?
  3. Why does Avast not deny these access?
Your expertise here wd be much appreciated.

The real point is do you even need JAVA as it isn’t an essential part of windows (you have to install it). If you don’t visit web sites that require it or have applications installed that require it then you should remove it.

You can uninstall JAVA from the normal windows Ad Remove Programs or using the JAVA removal Tool a google search for ‘JAVA removal Tool JavaRa’ without the quote should get it. Two links for the tool and info below.
