Java

Have noticed in a few posts, (Java software) being mentioned as a security risk (HIGH). I have it on my OS ME. have tried to update it several times and am now told “wrong OS” ??. Question, do I really need it, or should I replace it with something comperable, If something else is available, for Windows ME. Really have no Idea of what it is !!!.

Where have you seen this and under what context ?

As an up to date JAVA is no more a High risk than many other applications.

What version of JAVA do you have ?
The Sun JAVA provides support for win9x/ME but it isn’t on the latest JAVA stream. However, you still need to have the latest version that is supported for winME.

 Hi :

The latest Sun Java for a ME OS is Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 16, available @ http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index_jdk5.jsp .

DavidR, Version 5.0 Update 6. Did a search here, didn’t find what I thought I had seen. May have been on another forum. Thanks for the come back.
