I am new to avast. Run out of patience with zone alarm and switched to avast. On the 2nd full system scan a virus was found C:\windows\serviceprofiles\networkservices\appdata\local\microsoft\windows.…\wpad[1].cache. Severity High Status Threat JS:Banker-IC [trj] Action Delete or Move to chest error access is denied (5) .
Zone Alarm did not detect this nor does windows defender . I get no warnings when opening browser ( Firefox and Chrome ) Also it was not detected on the 1st full scan performed by avast. Does this mean I have only just been infected in the last week ??
I have read other posts on this forum which appeared to me to solve a problem of continual warnings messages appearing when opening browser or Skype + others . I don’t think interfering with Internet settings will remove the virus.
I searched the web and the only info on this virus is on this forum and it appears the only affected seem to be using avast. No mention of this virus on zonealarm or norton or Microsoft as far as I can tell. Something else that I noticed is no recent posting , if i remember correctly last posting was June 2012
I would be very grateful for any help and assistance in removing this virus from the members. I have suspended my Internet banking activity until I can be sure this Trojan is cleaned from the PC /laptop. My operating system is vista. I don’t want to risk downloading one of the virus removal tools that claim to treat this virus.
