JS:ScriptPE-inf [Trj] - seems to only happen in Google +

Hi
I’m using Win7, and Avast for anti virus. I get pop-ups warning of JS:ScriptPE-inf [Trj]. I used info from this site - I’ve used Malware Bytes, Adwcleaner, and Frst to clean the system over the last few days.

It seems the only time I get the warnings is when I have Google + open. Warnings non stop yesterday, but sporadically today.

Also, why does a search on this “virus” not appear in archives for F secure, Symantec

F-secure and Symantec may not use the same name. https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=149952.0

Follow instructions and you will get assistance later today. https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

Thank you.

Save this as fixlist.txt, in the same location as FRST.exe

Run FRST and press Fix
On completion a log will be generated please post that

THEN

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.

[*]Close all open programs and internet browsers.
[*]Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
[*]Click on Scan.
[*]After the scan is complete click on “Clean”
[*]Confirm each time with Ok.
[*]Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
[*]Please post the content of that logfile with your next answer.
[*]You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.

Thanks for the advice.

By the time browser opened after the restarts, the pop ups were pooping up again, with the same warning.

Does this only happen when you go to google+

No…today I don’t recall having opened Google +.

The incidence of the pop ups appears to have lessened, but is still occurring sporadically.

Who is your ISP ?

Notes:

  1. Do not mouse-click Combofix’s window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

  3. If after the reboot you get errors about programmes being marked for deletion then reboot, that will cure it.

Please make sure you include the combo fix log in your next reply as well as describe how your computer is running now

My ISP is TPG.

Scanning took a couple of hours - log attached.

When I restarted my PC, and opened Chrome, the popup occurred straight away. The Gmail window was open (as it always is). I closed Gmail, and haven’t seen a popup since.

Hope this helps…

Have you deleted all the spam in your gmail folder and emptied the deleted emails folder ?

I have now. Originally, it appeared (to me)that GMail was to blame - the reference to talkgadget.google.com supported that in my opinion.

It was only yesterday I noticed it was happening with GMail.

I’ll monitor and advise.

Confirmed - limit use of PC today - but popup ONLY when GMail open.

That would suggest that either Gmail has added a cross link to the programme or one of the e-mails in your gmail folder is infected

I am not sure which it could be yet

I think your observation is quite correct. As soon as I open my normal GMail, the popups occur within seconds. I was just using my other account (Google for education), and no warnings at all.

Given that Google scan all the stuff in my account, how can I sort it out?

I’ve removed any recent scripts etc used with my Google docs.

Can you use a mail client like live mail to download the e-mails rather than going to the GMail site and see if you still get the alerts
