Hi everyone this is my first post with a (hopefully easy) question. I recently downloaded Avast and I have version 5 as well as 64-bit Windows 7. I did a quick scan today and it found the following:
It’s currently in the chest but I don’t know if I should delete it or not. I cant find anything from this on google other than that it has something to do with javascript.
I also did quick scans with Windows defender and Malawarebytes which didn’t detect anything. Thank you in advance for any advice :]
Technical Information (Analysis)
Exploit:JS/Shellcode.gen is a detection for JavaScript-enabled objects that exhibit suspicious behavior.
Malicious websites and malformed PDF documents may contain JavaScript which attempts to execute code without the affected user’s consent.
It is common for this detection to trigger on a user’s Internet cache. This may indicate that the user has recently visited a website that attempted to download and execute files on their computer.
There is no need to delete anything from the Chest since it is a protected area where malware can do no harm to your computer. Generally, we suggest to leave whatever is found in the Chest there for at least 2 or 3 weeks. This is to make sure the file is not one that is needed for the normal operation of your computer. Then scan each one by right clicking each one in the Chest and selecting Scan. If they are still shown as infected AND there have been no adverse effects to the operation of your computer, then you can delete them. But, as I stated above, there is no need to delete them. When they are deleted from the Chest, they are gone forever.
