JTAlert.exe is being flagged as Win32:Malware-gen

The executable JTAlert.exe is being flagged as Win32:Malware-gen. It is part of an Amateur Radio software application called JTAlert. For further information about the application, please see http://hamapps.com/

I have submitted a false positive report from the Virus Chest yesterday, and was told by other Amateur Radio operators that they submitted false positive reports starting on 7/23/2014. The most recent virus signatures for Avast are still flagging this file as Win32:Malware-gen.

I have uploaded the file to http://www.virustotal.com/. Scan results are at https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/370ab6ac12054e9e1c821f742d3cb362beb1894bdf868efa46a4cd3213aee149/analysis/

What can be done to correct this issue? It is preventing users of this application from installing and using JTAlert.

file is new … First submission 2014-07-23 13:56:23 UTC ( 5 days, 11 hours ago )

You can also report it here http://www.avast.com/contact-form.php

I uploaded the file and reported the false positive to Avast using this link. Thank you.

Today’s virus signature (shown as 140729-0 on my computer) no longer flag JTAlert.exe as Win32:Malware-gen. Thanks for update to virus signatures that fixed this problem!

you can now right click file in chest and restore it if you want … a copy will remain in chest just in case, you may delete it when you want
