Junk email filter

Helli, I use Outlook 2002 and have Avast 7.0.1474.
I have a folder in my inbox called “avast! junk” and junk mail used to be filtered into that folder, but recently nothing has happened with junk mail, other than the fact that junk mail gets the subject heading altered to show SPAM, and it remains in my inbox.

I can’t remember how the junk folder was set up to begin with and I can’t find any settings in my Avast Control Panel to set up the junk folder.

Could a recent upgrade or update have removed this feature or was there something else I needed to do to set it up again? Does Outlook rename the incoming email as SPAM or does Avast do that?
Thank you
Laura
