can someone tell me what is the difference between avast 4.8 and avast 5

They really are huge differences not just in the additional modules that are available, but also in its resource use (less), better performance (faster scans) better detections, better and easier user interface, etc. etc. No contest.
Not only that support for avast 4.8 is meant to cease at the end of this year, which isn’t too far off. Even if that support weren’t to end, there is no way I would want to go back to 4.8.

I don’t believe there is a direct comparison between 4.8 and 5.0.
+1… there is no comparison as 5.0 is so much better in every aspect.
