Just got Avast! Internet Security.. Now I cant log in on internet.

Hi, Im sorry my english might be bad, but hope u understand!

Yesterday, I ordered Avast! Internet Security, and activated it. I have used Avast Free for more then 1 year now, and finally I upgraded.
After upgraded, avast askt me to restart my computer, and I did so. When I turned it on again, my internet was blocked. And I mean everything, Nothing, even Avast cant reach the internet, I cant use my web browser, I cant update Avast, Dropbox doesn’t have contack, and so on… I cant even log on and administrate my own router!!! (and yes, I do have contact with the router)

But I’m writing this message, so there is nothing wrong with my Internet, Xbox works, my phone works, and the other pc, wich I am using now, works fine!

I have tried disabling both firewalls, window’s and Avast’s firewall, but it doesn’t have any effect!!
When I tried to use the windows “troubleshooting”, and it said that there was something that denied access. -.-
I dont make much out of that message, so I feal kinda stuck now!

Hope you understand my problem, and can help me!

  • Which version of avast! IS…??
  • OS…?? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP…?)
  • Other security related software installed…??

Version of Avast; 7.0.1466
OS: Win 7 64bit
And I dont have any other security programs.

  1. Download avast! Internet Security: http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

Hi Asyn and PredatorNOR,

Essexboy instructs us to do thusly (https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0)

“If you are having internet connection problems or firewall problems, or have a sirfef (consrv.dll infection) then do the following : Run farbar service scanner”

Just ran it; its output is quite readable, really.

Best regards.

@ Kwartet!

None of what the OP describes appears to be malware related, so lets not go jumping the gun.

We also advise users to only follow the specific advice of qualified malware removal specialists, if it is confirmed that they have a malware problem and then they run the tools under their guidance.

@ PredatorNOR
Follow the clean install using the avast uninstall utility as advised by Asyn.

So true,

But Farbar service scanner doesn’t seek out malware. It reports on services that are internet-related, see attached log. If one pc has a problem and other devices on the same connection do not, I’d want to inspect that pc.

Regardless of what it does, if it is in relation to malware removal and or repair after infection it should be run on advice of the malware removal specialist.

That way we don’t get suggestion to run various tools by everyone.

Hi, thanks for replyes.

I don’t think this has anything to do with malware and viruses. Avast has always said that my pc is clean, just from time to time some PUP’s, and that was removed. This happend after i Upgraded Avast free to Avast internet security, actually after I restartet the computer.

So you guys recomend me to reinnstall Avast?
There are no known problems like this?

A clean reinstall is generally without problem, more so for resolving issues after an update or upgrade that hasn’t worked as it should.

Download the programs required (in Reply #3 above) and save them to your hard disk before doing anything else:

    1. Now uninstall avast! (using add remove programs, if you can’t do that start from the next step), reboot.- 2. run the avast! Uninstall Utility from safe mode, first for 6.x if previously installed and then for 7.0, once complete reboot into normal mode.- 3. install the latest version, reboot.

This is goddamn stupid!! >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

I had a lot of problems with reinstalling avast, but I removed it, and installed it again… When Avast was deleted, the internet worked… Geat!!
But I had to install it again, ofc, I love Avast! Or well, I did…
Because, now… I have the same problem, and I have reinstalled it…

Any idea what I can do now?
This problem has to be Avast, or some other program not working along with Avast… ??? Again, this happend after i upgraded from free to Avast Internet security…

I could of course use Avast Free again, but that is kinda bad when I just payed for the upgraded version!

Did you explicitly follow the clean reinstall process, including any other versions of avast previously installed ?

What errors are you getting when you try to connect to the internet ?
What happens when you try to connect to this link - http://195.74.76.34/

Before you installed AIS what did you use for a firewall ?

Yes, I did exactley what it said I should do, so I dont think it has anything to do with that;)
I’t wont connect to the dress you sendt me, its like it dont even try to connect, it just say “cant connect” and that i have to check if i wrote it right.
I have always used “windows firewall”, the one that is in the system from start;)

Do you have Trusteer Rapport?

I had clashes between this version of AIS and Rapport - different symptoms to yours, but I’ve no idea what driver clashes may do, so may be worth a look?

I must add that I now have disabled Windows firewall, and all sorts of Avast shields and firewall. Still, It doesnt work. I cant understand what’s blocking the internet. It’s truly not the firewall or any of the shields, so… I have no idea! :stuck_out_tongue:
If I cant fix this until tomorow, I will call Avast support, maybe they can help.
