Just Installed Latest version OF AIS , But Am Having Problems !

Hi Guys,
Just installed the latest version of AIS , but am having a few problems .After installing and rebooting AIS came on but both the shields & firewall were disabled . i clicked the Fix It button and it turned the shields on , but the firewall is still disabled . I have repeatedly hit the Fix button & still the Avast Fierewall is disabled ??? Can anyone help ?

I do have windows firewall on also as instructed in a previous post .

what antivirus did you have before avast ?
have you removed it ?
have you run a removal tool to remove all trace after the program ?
( can be found here http://uninstallers.blogspot.com/ )

have you tried avast repair and rebot ?

For a repair of avast. Windows, Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button from the pop-up window, scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.

Hi Pondus ,
Use to use Kaspersky internet security , but switched to Avast (free & online armor firewall (free) middle of last year. I have cleaned out everything pertaining to Kaspersky , Avast , Online armor , & Malware bytes ran CCleaner & WinASO. Downloaded newest version of AIS , installed it , rebooted . The firewall was still disabled and would not come on . Even tried a repair of AIS and that didn’t work either . Any other idea’s ?

well you can try another shot in the dark

uninstall avast with the removal tool and reboot http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility
run Eusing free registry cleaner, fix all and reboot http://www.eusing.com/free_registry_cleaner/registry_cleaner.htm
Install again, reboot … and pray … ::slight_smile:

You may want to check this: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=57650.msg486342#msg486342 to fix the firewall-problem (no guarantee, but worth trying)

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the help and suggestions , but the firewall still won’t come on . I think i’ll just stick with Avast Free anti virus(5) & Online armor Firewall for now . maybe there will be a fix for AIS’s firewall sometime in the future .
