Trying to run K-lite codec pack, but every time I do it, Avast detects threat “Win32:Evo-gen”. Now I badly need K-lite codec pack to play my videos on MPC-HC. What to do? Would it be safe to ignore the threat? Again if I don’t ignore it, I can’t install K-lite Btw, I returned here after a long gap. Hope you are all well and doing fine
You can report a suspected FP here: https://www.avast.com/false-positive-file-form.php
No, you do not need the K-Lite codec pack to play a video.
You only need the correct codec for that specific video.
…or you can use standalone MPC - HC (without K-Lite Codec Pack) with built in codecs :

I believe that detection is correct and that installer probably contains adware. See alert here :

It is possible to get clean installer if you unzip installer with 7-Zip.
I don’t know if this is working with K-Lite Codec Pack installer because I didn’t try it.
Win32:Evo-gen [susp] = Suspicious

Hello,
where did you download the K-lite codec pack from? Can you post virustotal link of the detected file?
