Keyboard problems

I have a virus on my computer. My background is blocked. I get the message that I should restart my computer as there is a virus in my memory. I have to restart my computer so that avast can run a scan. It detects the virus and then says to press number 2 to delete all among other choises, but my keyboard doesn’t work at that time so what do I do?

Do you have a USB keyboard?

If so you have to enable USB devices in your BIOS, you need to boot and interrupt the boot by pressing the delete or esc key (depends on your Mother board). Once you get into the BIOS you need to find the bit that covers USB devices, possibly Integrated Devices or Peripherals, but this again depends on maker of the BIOS chip. You will have to search around for it and enable USB on boot.

After testing/checking what David said, test the two keys for the number 2 (normal key and the one with number pad on) 8)

Good point Technical, as the numpad group on the right is normally disabled on boot until you get into windows so the numbers above the normal keyboard should be used.

I remember this being a problem for someone trying to enter their password they used the numpad for the numbers in their password and didn’t notice that they weren’t entered, only that the password didn’t work, it took them ages to identify the problem.
