Kill process avastsecurebrowser.exe

Hi, I have the Avast Secure Browser installed, although it is not my default browser. The program works well and I like, with respect to that I have no problem, the only drawback I find is the following:

When I start the PC, at minute appears in the task manager, with approximately 20 processes, while this happens, I can not use the PC, it eats the full RAM memory (4 GB), it takes approximately 15 minutes to disappear. After a short time it comes back to the same thing.

The problem is that I do not have it in the scheduled tasks or in the startup programs or in any other place (including the browser) to activate it automatically, when I want to delete the process says permission denied. I changed the file permissions and it does not work either.
I do not know what to do anymore, is there any solution for this?

I feel a lot if nobody gives me a possible solution, I will have to uninstall, because it is unstable to have to continuously look at the task manager, by the time the file appears, stop doing what I was doing, before everything is blocked.
Thanks in advance.

I’m sorry for my English, I use a translator.

You have to be admin then you can kill the processes, but you have to do it before it starts enough processes to kill the computer. Or, boot in safe mode and uninstall it.

Turn off default start-up processes within Avast Secure Browser via:

(3) dots upper right hand corner>Settings>Scroll down to last box: On Startup. Turn off both selections. See attached picture below.

Open Advanced section by clicking it and deselect whatever you don’t need or want.

Reboot. (Do not shut down, do a restart only.)

First, thanks for the answers.

To Jon195, I’m an administrator, and even changing the permissions deny me access. I do not want to uninstall it, I want it not to be activated without my permission.

To mchain, I have it that way, it’s the first thing I did when I installed it, that’s why I’m surprised that the process activates itself.
I could stop it by unchecking the Avast self-defense module, but it’s not an option to leave it that way, besides, when I activated it again, after a while the process returned.
It is not a virus, days before I did a complete and exhaustive scan and checked the whole system.

Uninstall and reinstall ?. I did not install it through Avast, I did it with an independent installer (official), Could that be the cause?

You might want to give this a try,

Clean install of the Secure Browser:
Maybe it’s time for a clean install of the Secure Browser
Download the installer from here, https://www.avast.com/en-us/secure-browser
Download the Secure Browser Removal tool from here, https://download.avastbrowser.com/avast_secure_browser_uninstall.exe
Save your Bookmarks via the Book Marks Manager if you have custom bookmarks so you can import them when you re-install.
Uninstall Secure Browser via Programs and Features - Reboot
Run the removal tool, reboot, run the installer import your favorites if you saved them.
A video to help with the installation: https://youtu.be/r_VLA0HMLQM
Report back if that’s solved the problem or not.

This is easier said than done. For me, once avast secure browser decides to install itself, it starts launching many, many copies of itself and the computer eventually become unresponsive. I have 4G+ of RAM on all my machines which is usually only occupied at about 50%, with plenty of virtual memory and horsepower, so I should be able to handle a few dozen web browsers, even if unwanted. I end up having to boot in safe mode to get rid of it. I’m very hesitant to download any more .exe’s to truly uninstall and keep it from coming back after what’s happened. I’m going to be digging through registries and using tools like “hijack this” to figure out what could be happening.

To be honest, I’ve never heard of a legitimate program auto-installing itself unless it is bundled with another (free) program. Even then, it still requires user input to start the installation process using the original installer.

And, as for installing many many copies of itself (see Task Manager) could these be what are known as Background Processes running in system memory? Or, are many copies actual separate installation folders for each one? Not clear.

Example is attached below:

The showed up as entirely separate processes in task manager for me, like what you showed, but more, and at the root tree level (not under a branch). But thankfully it hasn’t re-installed itself recently. Hopefully, next time avast updates, they will eliminate this menace from the update.

It isn’t a menace. You need to learn how your browser works.
Each extension is it’s own process. No different than in Chrome. The more extensions you have, the m ore items will be showing up in the task manager.

To bob3160, I did all the steps and installed from scratch.
I’ve been slow to answer because I’ve been waiting for him to do the same again.
And yes, but now instead of appearing at the beginning of the system, it appears when I least expect it, despite everything being configured so that it does not activate itself.
I like it for the banking mode, but in the end I have uninstalled it, if it is ever made a portable version I be used again, but in the meantime no.
I can not continually be aware of the task manager to stop doing all and avoid blocking everything.
IWith SafeZone this never happened to me.
Anyway, thank you very much for the answers.
