Laptops/Desktops

I was wondering that which brand of computer makers do you trust? Have got better services or value for money? Or even the driver support in the long run?

And which one do you own now?

I own Acer and Dell

Thanks

I have owned a HP G6000 since June 2008 and have no real complaints. The major bugbear was only one gig of ram with vista which I upgraded to two gigs with crucial at a cheap price.Would I buy another HP,yes.

Not another sodding poll. Not to mention you can only vote for one, so a flawed poll as trust isn’t a single issue/company, you can trust many companies, etc…

What about Gigabyte, Alienware, Clevo ? make your reviewing easy for yourself and look here http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Mobile/137

Alienware is owned by Dell right? Thanks for the info

Clevo…never heard of it

Hmm…someone can try create a similar poll…

I was planning to buy a 2nd gen. i7 laptop and I am confused…so i ended up with this poll

You could have simply asked for help in the form of a question.

I personally like Dell only because I own 2 and both serve me well.
I hate useless polls. :frowning:

You are right…but it seems i cannot delete the poll now…I guess i should have that option…

Although Dell is good…I found out that a HP Pavilion dv6-6166se has usb3 ports compared with a similarly priced Dell New Inspirion 15R which only have usb2 ports…

I refuse to vote in such a useless poll! What criteria makes one computer better than another? ???

Reliability, support, hardware just to name a few, have you ever tried to find drivers for an LG ? support on there website is useless you might as well chuck them away.
I prefer acer or asus, acer have great support and its easy to navigate there website for drivers.

What I meant was…what is good for one person might not be good for another. ???

@DavidR what does “sodding” mean? And the British don’t like some “Americanisms”. ;D

You are extremely Para Noid!!!

LOL, I admit this poll was stupid…I though there will be option to edit the poll…but there isn’t.

David is sodding awesome!! It means F-U-C-K-I-N-G in some cases :stuck_out_tongue:

You’ll find the answer here:

Oh!

I like Asus laptops but i own an Acer netbook. Very satisfied with my little Acer, not so satisfied with all the crap that came pre-installed with it though. But i guess many manufacturers pre-install all sorts of crap on their products.

I currently have two Dell desktops (office and home), and a Dell laptop. So, I guess my vote would be for either Dell or HP. I like HP computers, and I’ve owned a couple over the years (and only HP printers). However, today, I wouldn’t have any problems owning any of the major brands - pretty much the same components inside, just different names on the boxes.

Ever since “outgrowing” my C64 eons ago, I’ve always bought my desktop systems and major peripherals (e.g., monitors) from a local OEM who’s been in business here (and now has some out-of-town branches too) for something like 25 years now. They have an excellent reputation for service, with the result that even minor shop-work will typically sit a week before they can look at it, due to high demand. So I’m not too concerned with “brand names”. For peripherals and components like drives, they prefer to stick with (but do offer choices) LG.

And they’re probably unique in having no minimum charge for service … while their hourly rates are fairly typical (say around $70/hour), if a job only takes them 5 minutes then they charge for 1/12 hour. :o

I like HP, especially for a laptop. They build solid dependable machines. ASUS and Lenovo are also very good, Dell is not as good as they once were from all reports I’ve read.

If you want a good , powerful desktop, check out IBuyPower. They build to your specs with all top of the line components and frequently for less than you buy the components separately. Walmart now has a custom build program with IBuyPower and the machine is shipped to your local WM for free.

If you live in the US. ;D

Dell is not as good as they once were from all reports I've read.
I didn't make my statement based on what I've read only from what I'm using. :)
