i got the error, package is broken (in german: Das Paket ist beschaedigt)
i found in setup.ini

i saw in the search, that there was in 2004 a similar problem. but on several installations i got
the error since the last prg update.
i have delete one avast installation. and it SEEMS to be ok.
but one day later the error comes back ;(
how can i fix it?

this problem is unresolved…
i got this error from time to time…
20 installations got the error. if i dont get a solution. avast is flying away from the pc`s.
i am a bit angry about this “feature”. only a fresh installation can help me.
for 1 hour or days. and the errour comes back.
other pc`s do the updates well at the same time!! from local mirror.
please. what can i do?
what do anyone need, so i can (or we can) resolve the problem.

Did you try a repair of avast, this has on occasion resolved the ‘package is broken’ problem ?
Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this.
Please send file setup.log from avast4\setup folder to my email, it contains more details to check.
Also, how do you connect internet (dial-up/adsl/wifi), do you use some firewall or connect using proxy server?
Generally it helps to run Repair (as DavidR recommended) or start program/vps update manually.
If your connection is ADSL, open avast settings - update (connection) - proxy, and select Direct connection.

yes , i tried t repair the avast installation.
the only solution is to deinstall , boot and re-install.
the first update runs fine.
but from one to the other moment, the error occurs.
avast tell me the error. avast can see the new update, but thats all.
i wrote a mail to forjet, in the hope he find the problem…
