Latest Avast 2014 free = disaster = Application Crash !!!

Well the topic title pretty much sums it up! !!

I have used windvd 10 for so long while using avast in the past untill i upgraded avast to the lastest program build !!!

Ever since i installed the latest avast windvd wont work anymore, i get the application layer error or something in the line…

And no=NO Windvd isnt to blame for this time… First like i said before windvd have worked splendid untill i did ut update (hint) and to get windvd to work again i have to uninstall AVAST 2014 or whatever version it is on now !!

Unchecking settings in avast didnt help, putting the corel windvdfolder to the exclusion list DID NOT HELP, Disable AVAST DID not bring back my favorite software player … so the ONLY thing left for me is to COMPLETE UNINSTALL avast and search for another AV

Unless, some one got an bright idea to solve this …

I’ll be glad to read helpful tips …

cheers,

bump…→ bummer !?

First like i said before windvd have worked splendid untill i did ut update (hint) and to get windvd to work again i have to uninstall AVAST 2014 or whatever version it is on now !!

Wait, I don’t really get it. The problem started after you updated WinDVD?

Not with this overwhelming amount of information, I’m afraid…

::slight_smile:

err… i think i clearly stated in my initial post… direct quote ↓

… Or → wait !! are u trying to make fun of me !?

no info !!? Like … ?

i mentioned that the problem arised since i updated and installed Avast 9 (2014)
Also, the problem is that → WinDVD ← stopped working because of the above ↑ !!!

And, when i uninstalled Avast the problem goes away and everything turn back to normal as it wos before !!!??

so, what else can i say to make it clear to you that avast build 9.x.x is the cullprit here …
Not 8.x.x but … 9 as in 2014 → a bit premature if u ask me judging by the flood of error/bug reports i want to add!!?

cheers,

Like, instead of the long-winded tirades which are utterly pointless, you could have posted the exact error you get, or heck even make a screenshot of the error if typing it so much bothers you. Not “application layer error or something in the line…”

Sigh. ::slight_smile:

WauW, why woud it matter to post the error report from windvd when it clearly is AVAST that is causing all of this !!!???

Also, would you have thought of an fix/workarround for me if i had posted the error ?

But if you insist…

This is what i get to read in eventviewer …↓ KNOCK YOURSELF OUT pal

Errr, perhaps because you’d like to get it fixed, which is damn impossible without knowing what’s wrong where? Or, have you just come to vent here about the sheer dimension of the WinDVD crashing disaster?

P.S. Meanwhile, even though I’m pretty sure that fixing WinDVD must be #1 priority and everyone @Avast has dropped everything else till it’s done, there’re tons of alternative DVD players, some of them even free, better and not even remotely as bloated as WinDVD. :stuck_out_tongue:

mKay… First, in how many languages do you want me to explain what has caused my precious windvd to crash and the errrrr reports as an result of that… In Chinees, kantonees, mayhap hindu my “benevolent” vishnu friend ?

Either ur pulling my leg right now, starved for attention, or you dont give a damn … or lil of both !!

And oh please… when it comes to DVD upscaling… rest asure iam SO HAPPY I still use windvd 10 pro… even windvd 11 upscale methods arent what it use to be and are flat out rubbish !!!

The method that windvd 10 uses to upscale (hd trimension) is something you won’t have in any other dvd player software … payed nor free ???

Video is very SMOOTHIE and crisp clear in contrast to other players stutters and garbled / scrambled so called upsaled !!!

and if u dont see the difference , go pay an vissit to the optician … REALY …

No kiddin here…

You clearly have zero clue about debugging and fixing problems. Translation not needed, I fortunately managed to rediscover the ignore list feature, mental sanity restored.

WELL DUH brainiac… chortles*

If i knew HOW, i woudnt have posted an cry for help isnt it ?? Instead i woud have revamped AVAST ALL BY MYSELF to obey MEEEE instead and posted the sollution and not half ass wise comments like you did :o…
