Recently the offline update files of avast are not running, when you double click they do nothing, I tried repairing Avast and it did not solve the problem, I have noticed that the size of offline updates has been reducing over time
- What is your OS?
- Where did you download these updates?
- What avast product are you using?
- Any other security related software you are/were using?
Vpsupd hasn’t worked since Avast24.10. I’ve posted on this bug many times but no fix yet.
I use Avast free on Win10 32-bit and 64-bit
I don’t have any other security software running, not even Defender
I’m still using Avast24.9. It is the last version in which vpsupd worked.
@NON I’m using Windows 10, I downloaded the update from the official avast site, I’m using avast Premium Security and I don’t have another antivirus installed
How to get offline installer of version 24.9?
I can confirm something is wrong with latest vpsupd.exe for over Avast 19. I’ll report this to the devs.
Any news on when this problem will be fixed?
No response so far unfortunately, I’ll remind them.
On the side note, I found that the updater works on some machine while others not, depending on setup version (instup/icarus). Current updater works with instup but not icarus.
Any workaround or fix? Is there a way to get a working offline installer?
Unfortunately, Avast doesn’t keep offline installers on archive, so there is no source for an older version of Avast antivirus. To them, seemingly newer is always better no matter what
It would be wise to download offline installers in the future and save them to avoid situations like this. For me, I make monthly backups of my OS builds (the entire partition) so that’s how I can revert to an older version of Avast
I turn off automatic version updates. For that matter, I also turn off automatic virus updates and use vpsupd instead
