Latest version too aggressive for Disqus?

I tried posting this just now and totally lost the post when I was trying to enter the captcha. I’m at work and don’t have time for trying to find the discussion I was looking at. So, Here you are:

Great! There’s a forum for Avast users. Crap! No one with knowledge is able to help those of us with this problem.

What I don’t get is that I’m using Avast at home (must be an older version) and I can access all the features of Disqus. Here on my new laptop (Acer V5, windows 7 professional 64 bit), I can’t use Disqus with Avast. I’ve experimented, putting disqus.com into the exclusions areas for urls and that deep scan thingy. I’ve turned off av temporarily. Nada. I uninstall Avast and all is fine. That’s twice I’ve done it.

I called the toll free number Avast shows (for Canada; I’m in Toronto) and was pleasantly surprised to get, quickly, a live operator… who doesn’t know what Disqus is. Does she use a computer I wonder? If she doesn’t, that doesn’t make her a bad person. But I’m not sure that it makes her a great tech support person. Okay, She wasn’t specifically tech support, but even so. I just didn’t feel like spending any more time with this. I asked her to mention the Disqus problem to someone, said thanks and goodbye. I’m now onto another av for this machine. I have no complaints about Avast otherwise. And it was free.

Does any of this have to do with Google, which is nasty, nasty, nasty?

It is the improved detection from avast that blocks it.
And the site should be blocked since it is blacklisted and malicious websites are hosted on the same IP address.

Nothing wrong with Google. NSA is a different story.

Thanks Eddy. I carefully looked at the info you linked to there. I’m not capable of understanding the tech side of things here. I have to rely on people who I trust, if I know of any. I do. They are at Wilders and ESET. I’ll ask them about your conclusions. And if disqus misbehaves, I still don’t know what I can do about it, although I took a stab at informing them (which is hard to do because most companies don’t really want to hear from those whose support - $ - they want) about Avast’s displeasure with their service but who knows?

Lots wrong with NSA is an understatement. Lots wrong with corporatocracy and NSA ‘and’ Google are members:

Sorry but that’s bull. Any company has to comply with court orders and Government agencies when served with the proper papers.
Simply realize that there is No Privacy on the internet. If you can’t live with that than not using the internet is your only alternative.

Bob3160: Nonsense! And I’m done with that subject. I’ll leave you to worship your wonderful, tax evading, uncaring corporations.

I use Avast from 2009 and always get not only engine and virus definition update but also program update.
I once updated program to AVAST 2014 Program update (9.0.2006) a week ago.
Start from there, my notebook became slower and it took too many things to check, scan & notify.
It’s getting my notebook memory too much and my notebook started hang and even frozen also that I need to take hard shut down several time.
That’s not good for my hard disk so I reinstall my windows and then use AVAST 2014 Program update (9.0.2006).
But still, it my notebook started hang and even frozen also that I need to take hard shut down.
So I downgrade my avast software version from 9.0.2006 to 7.0.1474.

Please help to keep Avast go lightly.
Cause that’s a main reason why I choose Avast and leave other anti virus.

The latest version of avast! is 9.0.2007. Maybe instead of downgrading, you should consider updating to the latest version. ???

9.0.2008 is out there
