whenever I decide to launch the scanning from the icon in the system tray, it does the memory check and then disappears and wont come back until i log off, then it shows up (when doing the log off sequence, it will show up, then im back to logon screen and then cant run a scan). But it does no good since im logging off.

I mentioned to the avast team quite some time ago that I could make this problem (memory scan then nothing) happen at will. I was under the impression that my information was not useful since they believed that they had taken care of the issue.
Are you using the latest release of avast?
Please right click the avast icon in the system tray and find out which build of avast you are using (see About avast).
The current release it build 4.7.1001.
build: 4.7.1001
xtreme toolkit: 1.9.40
activeskin: 4.2.7.3
I always make sure i check that the defs are updated and the program itself.
looking through the logs, everything seems ship shape, but i know it is not.
Only errors I got:
-Updates, when i know i disconnect from the switch for a certain reason.
-Seems to error when scanning Linux iso’s, but this has nothing to do with scanning Linux files
The scan works fine in safe mode, but not logged in normally.
