During a thorough (with high sensitivity option) virus scan, a message screen popped-up showing 41 Lavasoft files (Ad-aware) could not be opened to be scanned. One of those files was a default.skn file and the remaining 40 had a .bmp file extension. Should I be concerned about this?
Uncertain of what action to take (delete, move, repair, chest, scan etc) I closed this pop-up message at which point the scan seemed to stop - unless this message appeared at the end of the scan.

It’s normal… Passworded files cannot be scanned by the antivirus.
They’re are legitimic and were just protected because contain ‘signatures’ of adwares and spywares.
Simplest thing to do with Ad-Aware is simply add its whole folder “tree” to avast’s ignore list. You’ll get a long list of “didn’t scan” files and sub-folders on that summary screen following a scan, but at least avast won’t complain about them.
The best thing to do with AdAware is remove old back-ups. When you run adaware if you remove stuff that is found it the items are quarantined (copied) prior to removal so they can be restored if they were removed in error.
After a period of time your system shows no adverse effect you can delete these items from the quarantine area, this should reduce the number of protected files.
