Web Companion. Web Companion is a free tool from Lavasoft, that supposedly protects internet surfers from malicious websites, data tracking, advertisements, phishing scams and etc.
...after than uninstall my Firefox search engine changed to lava soft ..
I have no idea what you mean by “i tried everything on my hands to change it because i am tired of the silly redirects but i failed.”
Without knowing what you tried how can anyone really offer any suggestion, but here goes.
Did you click on the magnifying glass icon in the search area ?
You should have a number of search engines there you can select as the default.
If what you want isn’t their, how about the Change Search Settings below those other options ?
That gives you more options and there is also a ‘Find more search engines’ option if your engine of choice isn’t there.
of course there is always using the search function
To find how to change the default search engine in Firefox.
However what you don’t do is say what Firefox version you are actually using as these settings could change between versions.
Have you actually tried the two suggestions above, especially the second one as I just did that and added GoogleUK to my list of Searches, then it would just be a case of selecting that as the default.
I still don’t know:
“i tried everything on my hands to change it because i am tired of the silly redirects but i failed.” Before trying AdGuard.
what Firefox version you are actually using as these settings could change between versions.
Well between an old FF ESR version and the latest regular FF version 69.0 the settings are fairly similar so the suggestions 1 and 2 (if 1 and 2 didn’t work comment 3) made in my Reply #2. But you never answered questions 1 or 2 or commented about them, it is information that we need.
Just telling me what FF version you are using won’t resolve the situation and I don’t have ESR version 60.9.0 so I can’t offer any comment on that. This would be where the comment 3 about searching for “how to change the default search engine in Firefox” and if necessary expand that search to include the firefox version, ESR 60.9.0, it really shouldn’t be that difficult.
That may not change the Default engine, you may need to go a step further, having selected it, go to the Change Search Settings option below the list and ensure it is your Default Search Engine, if not ensure you select it there also.
