I am sorry for this went in the wrong forum.
Recently I got myself in quite a pickle. I formatted an old windows xp install which had Avast! v4.7 Home installed with the last defenition info. I forgot to copy over the VPS file from it to the new install and now I am stuck with an big problem. All the “vpsupd4.exe” installers are for the v4.8 version or even Profesional version of Avast. They do not work with my v4.7 Home install. All of them make the core engine throw errors and crash.
Here are the errors I got:
Unknown error 42000 - (while trying to access the settings menu)
AAVM code 0000A410 (taken from logs)
Avast reported an RPC error while trying to access the defenses menu
Yes, I do know avast 4.7 is long discontinued with outdated defenitions, running outdated AV’s don’t guarantee total protection, running old and outdated OS is also dangerous etc. but I need to get this version to work. It is the only one that plays nicely on my machine (Clamwin, Avast v7/v8 and others are too heavy).
Anybody which could link me the vps update file for avast v4.7?
