Isn’t that what they said about Vista and XP for that matter, the most secure windows so far.

This hype doesn’t change and you are hardly going to trumpet ‘this OS is nearly as secure or as secure as the last one.’

The hype about Vista being more secure than XP, as you say, was/is relevant. Vista is more secure than XP. There’s no question about that.

But repeating it for each and every subsequent OS is somewhat pointless as it is expected that they would be striving for better security.

No one is saying it isn’t more secure, just the pointlessness repeating of the marketing hype.

yeah OK they wanna sell it, what do you expect

I know that, but it tends to get tiresome trotting out the same security blurb. There are other features/functions that make it easier/better to use.

After I learned about Vista’s security when it was yet to be released, I couldn’t but admit that MS was serious about the security, which was the most attractive aspect of Vista for me and, yes, MS haven’t spared their efforts on this side with Windows 7. Of course, as the most targeted OS, I think it’s their responsibility especially when they want their OS to be used in businesses as well, though. The toughest part for them is to keep the balance between usability and serious security, with which most of security software companies would agree.

While their loud marketing campaign may be going to silently remove some possible future choices from people but I don’t think they take the security issue lightly especially when they seriously think about keeping their share.
