Letting Blizzard Downloader use ports

Hey, i own WoW and im having problems with the automatic downloader. It says im behind a firewall. Which is obvious i have advast 4.7 Home. The Blizzard technical support says i need to. Quote.

‘If you have a firewall, be sure that it is set up to allow for outgoing connections on ports 3724, 6112, and 6881-6999 for the TCP (also called TCP/IP) protocol.’

What is this? and how do i do it? Thanks for any help that can be offered

avast is not a firewall … it does not block ports. So this is probably not the best place to be looking for the resolution of your WoW issues.

Are you running real firewall software or perhaps using a router to connect your system to the Internet?

I thought Advast 4.7 home was, advast on access which came with it is, isnt it ? ???. Well i turned windows one off, and yea i have a router, Belkin, i fear im not that technically able to fiddle with that thought.

No, avast is an antivirus, not a firewall.

Most probably your router is not forwarding these ports. Do you have your router manual to read the proper settings?

Well the manual isnt helpful. Doesnt tell me how to open ports.

Sites like this http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm
could help you to forward ports
